    West Australian Metals proves lucky

West Australian Metals (WME) There haven't been many Perth-based junior miners that have been impervious to the problems of failed broker Opes Prime but West Australian Metals is one such fortunate company. The minerals explorer is yet to join the stampede of small companies disclosing links to the ill-fated broker Opes Prime and as a result has managed to make positive headway in the last week while peers generally saw their stock prices go backwards. West Australian Metals shares soared over 20 per cent today after it released a strong set of drilling results confirming earlier estimates of uranium mineralisation at its Namibian uranium deposit. Despite today's gains the stock is still caught within the malaise seen in much of the small caps sector in recent months; down 56.5 per cent from its November 27 record high of 41.5¢. The stock closed up 3¢ at 18¢. Finders Resources (FND) Another resource minnow to buck the rout in the sector was gold exploration junior Finders Resources. The gold minnow soared 20.6 per cent today on the strength of a good set of drill results confirming the existence of continuous gold and silver deposits at its Ojolali project. The news sparked the strongest day of trading in the stock for months with shares gaining 15¢ to 88¢ though still remains stuck in a four-month long rout which has seen the stock price slide 41 per cent since early November.
