It’s all a family affair at National Storage

This country’s disclosure rules around related party transactions are rather baffling. Under both the Corporations Act and Australian Accounting Standards, requirements exist for executives to be open with shareholders about when and how family members (spouses, kids etc) receive benefits from the company.

This plays out in some annual reports and filings, but particularly at companies domiciled in the United States – where similar standards are taken far more seriously.
