    After eight waves of infection, COVID-19 deaths have hit new lows, with national weekly deaths associated with the virus down to single digits, according to data from the federal Department of Health and Aged Care.

    The rolling seven-day average of registered COVID-19-associated deaths momentarily dropped to zero in the week ending February 29, according to a reporting dashboard that compiles deaths registered by the states and territories, based on the date of death.
