    Shanghai/Washington | China has accused the United States of spoiling the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders summit by attending with "great anger". However, it says it will not oppose Australia's partnership with the US to redevelop Papua New Guina's naval base at Manus Island.

    Beijing's response to Washington's efforts to use the summit as a platform to change the way China is treated by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) have lowered expectations Xi Jinping and Donald Trump can negotiate a sustainable truce to their trade war later this month.
