Student visa chaos: knockbacks and delays rife, unis say

A historically high number of international students are having their visas knocked back and thousands more have missed their first weeks of university because processing times have lapsed into weeks and even months.

Universities, vocational colleges and English-language colleges say more students than ever before are having their visas refused and there appears to be no coherent rationale as to which applications get approved and which are vetoed.
