    Lack of bitcoin futures might restrict future Aussie bitcoin ETF

    Much was made last week of the SEC’s approval of a suite of spot-bitcoin ETFs in the United States. Since then, billions of dollars have flowed through the new securities and the crypto diehards have rigged up the “told you so” flag. Sure, we hear it every few years, but it appears bitcoin is going mainstream. And Australians don’t have to wait long for their own version.

    But buried within the SEC’s judgement last week is a section that might complicate future spot-bitcoin ETFs in Australia. It concerns bitcoin futures markets. And the problem is, we don’t have one. And that, when it comes to monitoring price manipulation and fraud prevention, could prove an issue.
