    Melbourne has overtaken Sydney with a steeper fall in house prices of 3.9 per cent over the quarter, marking the city's first annual decline in six years.

    Nationally house prices fell 2.6 per cent and units dropped 1.6 per cent over the three months to September, according to Domain's latest quarterly house price report.
