    Treasurer Jim Chalmers is pushing superannuation funds to help people better use their savings in retirement and not leave behind large, unspent balances due to fears of running out of cash.

    Dr Chalmers first raised the issue as a priority of the Albanese government at the superannuation lending roundtable hosted by The Australian Financial Review in August. On Monday, he will release a discussion paper, which looks at – among other things – making lifetime income products more accessible.
