    Revered former deputy prime minister and Nationals leader Tim Fischer died on Wednesday night after fighting cancer for 10 years.

    The 73-year-old former MP and Australian ambassador to the Holy See had been gravely ill in hospital in Albury after battling acute leukaemia.
