    The government’s retirement discussion paper released on Monday signals strong and positive intent to solve a riddle facing millions of Australians.

    The Treasurer hit the salient issues in his opinion piece to accompany yesterday’s launch of the discussion paper, which are: we need to give the same focus to the retirement phase as we have (with great success) to the accumulation phase; many Australians lack support to make the most of their growing super balances; financial uncertainty leaves retirees underspending in their retirement years and only a collaborative effort from industry and government will solve these issues.
