A third of the most popular articles about cancer treatment on social media contain misinformation and much of this is potentially harmful, according to a US study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
It shows these articles garner more attention and engagement than those with evidence-based information and support approaches that could negatively impact the quality of treatment and patients’ chances of survival.
