Labor’s vehicle emission shake-up is bigger than you think
The government’s vehicles emissions laws will likely be a fair share of loopholes that will be exploited with gusto. But they could also bring benefits beyond fuel savings for drivers and cleaner air.
Tony DavisMotoring writerNo matter what targets were set in the federal government’s delayed New Vehicle Efficiency Standard, the local automotive industry was always going to call them “ambitious” and express deep concern that they may affect people’s ability to “access the style of vehicle that suits their needs for work and recreation”.
That’s exactly what the industry’s peak body, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industry, did – and within moments of Sunday’s NVES announcement.
