    The new year has brought permanent changes to the pension system that will allow older Australians to earn an extra $4000 before their government support payments are trimmed.

    Eligible pensioners and veterans can now earn $11,800, rather than $7800, before their payments are reduced. The changes have been introduced to help ease labour shortages that were particularly acute during the early stages of the recovery from the pandemic.
