    Iron ore surged by around 2 per cent overnight, recovering some of the losses made last week to trade back above $US60 ($76.74) a tonne.

    Ore with 62 per cent iron content hit $US61.18 in China's Qingdao Port, building on a 3.5 per cent rise on Friday.
