    Investors betting against Tesla took a $1.6 billion hit when a key short seller changed his mind about the outlook for the electric car maker.

    Short shareholders took a $US1.1 billion mark-to-market loss to their P/L on the share price move on Tuesday in New York, turning what had recently become a profitable year into losing one, according to data from New York-based financial technology and analytics firm S3 Partners.
