    WA implements uranium mining ban but allows four projects to proceed

    The West Australian Labor government has confirmed it will allow the four uranium projects approved by the previous Liberal-National government to proceed as it institutes an otherwise blanket ban on uranium mining across the state.

    From Tuesday, the government will use a section of the Mining Act to restrict the extraction of uranium from future mining leases, reviving a ban that last existed under Labor between 2002 and 2008.
