Ellex secures distribution deal for lenses

Ellex Medical Lasers announced on Thursday morning that it had entered into a strategic partnership with US-based lens manufacturer STAAR Surgical. The exclusive distribution agreement will allow Ellex to sell STAAR’s industry-leading cataract and refractive lens implants in Australia.

STAAR entered the market in 1982, and having exclusive distribution rights to its high-profile range of products is a significant development for Ellex. The company’s managing director, Mr Simon Luscombe, said this was a growing market supported by optical problems experienced by Australia’s ageing population.
