    Banking royal commission: Hartzer denies Westpac culture strained ASIC relationship

    Westpac chief executive Brian Hartzer said the bank's history of litigation with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and problems reporting breaches doesn't reflect any cultural shortcomings, as Westpac lifts voluntary reporting of issues to the regulator.

    The Hayne inquiry also heard on Thursday Mr Hartzer thought it was "unfair" for Westpac to review its culture in the same depth as Commonwealth Bank, given the litany of problems at CBA hadn't occurred at Westpac.
