Perhaps the most surprising thing about the co-CEO arrangement that Atlassian founders Scott Farquhar and Mike Cannon-Brookes have enjoyed for 23 years is that it lasted as long as it did.

One of the great partnerships in Australian business will end in August after Farquhar announced his decision to step down. As he said on Atlassian’s investor call on Friday morning, this was a rare and unique leadership model.
