Concrete costs rise 50pc as infrastructure boom hits

Victoria’s $78.5 billion infrastructure pipeline has supercharged demand for concrete, pushing up prices for commercial builders trying to service the demand for warehouses and logistics sites to meet the e-commerce boom.
Surging concrete costs are a key driver of the 70 per cent leap in overall warehouse costs that industrial builders and their clients have suffered since early 2020, and while structural steel costs are easing, the state’s slew of infrastructure projects is keeping concrete elevated, Texco Construction says.
