    The unintended result of Labor’s politically opportunistic redistributive revamp of the legislated stage three tax cuts has been to highlight the unprincipled mess of Australia’s taxation system. That has galvanised business to call for a tax summit to put on the table all the options for a principled and comprehensive reform agenda.

    Without such an agenda, as The Australian Financial Review has complained, federal and state governments have veered from one politically expedient and ad hoc tax policy change to another.
