Create consultant ‘name and shame’ register, government urged

The federal government should track and report on consulting contracts that have been terminated due to “material breaches” and consider banning firms from winning further work when they have engaged in “serious misconduct or breaches”, the Business Council of Australia has said.

The body, which represents big business, and whose membership includes the major consulting firms, also wants better tracking and reporting of public sector tender outcomes and more transparency about unsuccessful bidders. It also reckons the public service should prioritise the development of specialists across the bureaucracy.
